No Longer Tax Deductible List

The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 eliminated the tax deductibility of many items.  The following is a list of items that are no longer deductible as unreimbursed business expenses on the Federal tax return:

  • Vehicle mileage between jobs/assignments
  • NYC 1127 payments
  • Educator expenses
  • Professional organization dues
  • Job search fees
  • Cell phone
  • Protective clothing required for work
  • Safety equipment needed for work
  • Subscriptions to professional journals
  • Tools and supplies needed for work
  • Uniforms
  • Cost and upkeep of uniforms
  • Union dues
  • Work related education expenses
